SCATTERING OF ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES FROM A RANDOM ROUGH TIME-VARYING CONDUCTINGSURFACE
Abstract
THE SCATTERING OF PLANE ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES FROM RANDOMLY UNEVEN SURFACES ISTHEORETICALLY INVESTIGATED BY USING MORE COMPLICATED MODELS FOR THE SCATTERING SURFACE. IN THE FIRST PART OF THE WORK A TIME-VARYING RANDOM ROUGH SURFACE IS EXAMINED. THE STOCHASTIC PROCESS, THAT DESCRIBES THE ELEVATION FROM ITS MEANPLANE, IS CONSIDERED NONSTATIONARY OR NONHOMOGENEOUS. USING THE BOUNDARY PERTURBATION APPROACH OR THE PHYSICAL OPTICS INTEGRAL ALONG WITH THE QUASI-STATIONARY APPROXIMATION, IT IS PROVEN THAT THE INCOHERENT POWER SCATTERED FROM A NONSTATIONARY AND HOMOGENEOUS SURFACE VARIES WITH TIME THROUGH THE TIME-VARYING SURFACE STATISTICS. ON THE OTHER HAND THE ANGULAR SPECTRUM OF THE FIRST-ORDER SCATTERING CROSS SECTION PER UNIT AREA OF A STATIONARY AND NONHOMOGENEOUS ROUGH SURFACE IS PROVEN TO BE PROPORTIONAL TO THE AVERAGE OF ITS POSITION-VARYINGSPATIAL-TEMPORAL WAVENUMBER SPECTRUM.
