Ο στρατηγικός σχεδιασμός αποτελεί απαραίτητη ενέργεια για τις επιχειρήσεις εφόσον καθορίζει την πρόθεση της επιχείρησης για το μέλλον της, καθώς και τους τρόπους με βάση τους οποίους μπορεί να επιτύχει το επιθυμητό αποτέλεσμα, εξασφαλίζοντας την εύρυθμη λειτουργία και βιωσιμότητά της. Το στρατηγικό σχέδιο κατευθύνει την επιχείρηση να εστιάσει στις βασικές προτεραιότητές της, χωρίς όμως να παρεκκλίνει από το όραμα και την αποστολή της. Γενικότερα, ο στρατηγικός σχεδιασμός αποσκοπεί στην ενίσχυση της επιχείρησης προκειμένου να αντιμετωπίσει αποτελεσματικά τις νέες συνθήκες που προκαλούν η αέναη μετάλλαξη της κοινωνίας και της οικονομίας όπως και οι συνεχόμενες μεταβολές στην αγορά. Αποτελεί δυναμικό και προσανατολισμένο προς το μέλλον εργαλείο διαχείρισης και ρύθμισης και για αυτό, μπορεί να χαρακτηριστεί ως «οδικός χάρτης» για την πορεία προς την επιτυχία. The strategic planning pcan achieve the desired result, ensuring its smooth operation and sustainability. The strategic plan directs a business to focus on its key priorities, without deviating from its vision and mission. In general, the strategic planning process aims to empower businesses in order to cope effectively with the new conditions caused by the perpetual motion of both society and economy, as well as the constant changes in the market. Also, strategy is a dynamic and future-oriented management and adjustment tool and therefore can be described as a “road map” to success. The recession that followed the Greek economy since the beginning of 2010 had a negative impact on the majority of sectors of economic activity, even on the most dynamic ones, such as the food industry, which is one of the most powerful in the domestic processing. Given the new market conditions that were created in the context of the crisis, businesses were directly invited to develop and implement strategies in order to be adapted both to the new business environment and to the new needs of the market. Therefore, the question that was raised is whether businesses have succeeded - knowingly–to develop such strategies rather than being subjected to crisis and adverse developments. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the impact of the financial crisis into the formulation and development of business strategies in the food industry especially in small-medium enterprises. In order to approach the main research question, as well as those that emerged in the course of the thesis, a field survey was conducted through interviews, questionnaires and the application of the proposed tool “The Goals Grid” to a specific number of businesses (focus group) in the food sector in the Region of Central Greece. The analysis of the qualitative data that were obtained from the two phases of the interviews with the executives of each company was accomplished mainly by the data analysis software package called NVivo 12 Plus.The findings of the thesis assessed the role of the financial crisis in the formulation and development of business strategies and to what extent they were implemented in the food industry. In parallel, were brought out: (i) the real weaknesses of businesses in the strategic planning process and (ii) the ways that they used (such as the proposed tool The Goals Grid) to manage and overcome those weaknesses. Finally, more emphasis was placed on small and medium-sized enterprises, which constitute the majority of the industry.
