Psycho-social behavior and interpersonal skills of the children who live in institutions
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to update on current conditions institutional care, to investigate the protective and aggravating factors of living in an institution and the comparison between the two types of institutional care, the institution and foster care. The survey was conducted with the participation of two internal project institutional care groups of children and foster families of children aged 3-12 years old. The main sample was 96 children and came from four child protection institutions in Attica that hosted boys and girls, preschool and school age with differences in ethnic origin, age of admission to the institution, the educational level of parents, the reason for admission, the socio-economic level. The children of foster families, which constituted the comparison group, came mainly from the region of Attica.
