Hypertension with concomitant use of antihypertensive drugs is very frequent among patients with chronic renal failure. We decided to investigate the effect of different antihypertensive drugs on renal vascular resistance measured by color Doppler ultrasonography. In our study measured 80 chronic renal failure patients with hypertension randomly divided in four groups of 20 individuals each. Every group received a different antihypertensive drug angiotensin II antagonist (AII), b-blocker (BB) angiotensin converting enzyme antagonist (ACE) and calcium channel blocker (CCB) for a period of two months. Before and after the observation period all patients underwent phasic renal arterial blood flow velocity measurement using color Doppler-based Toshiba SSH-140A scanner with 3 5MHz transducer.
